History: [livio on the trigun wiki]
Personality:
✽ What is your character's main motivation? What drives them and keeps them going?
For Livio, regret and redemption go hand in hand. He spent all of his adult life and the majority of his teens committing horrible, violent acts for a group/person he believed was the only one who ever actually needed him. Once he broke free of this influence, he realized that he wanted to live to protect people rather than harm them. Now, he simply wants to try to be a good person and use his awfully-gained skills and power to stand up for others.
✽ What is their biggest regret? Why?
At this time, Livio regrets that he has dedicated so much of his life to the Eye of Michael, and his mentor, Master Chapel, rather than someone who actually valued him. Livio (and more specifically, his alter, Razlo) dedicated himself so fully to Chapel that he was willing to engage his childhood friend and another disciple of Chapel's, Wolfwood, in a battle to the death. Although Chapel was defeated and Livio was able to wrest control from Razlo before they could deal a mortal blow to Wolfwood, Livio considers his past actions unforgivable. Wolfwood had also saved Livio from himself once in their childhood, encouraging him to open up and allow himself to love and be loved. So as far as Livio is concerned, Wolfwood saved his life twice only for Livio to repay him with betrayal.
✽ What is their worst fear? Their greatest comfort?
As physically strong as he is, Livio doesn't have tangible fears, exactly. More than anything, he fears losing himself. He has strayed from the path of morality and love multiple times, both because of his own self-doubt and because of the actions he has taken as Razlo, who he perceives as being capable only of cruelty.
Now that Livio has freed himself from Chapel's influence thanks to Wolfwood, his main comfort is in knowing that he has Wolfwood to look to for guidance. He specifically cites Wolfwood as the sort of person he wants to be.
✽ Top three strengths?
- Self-discipline: Though the Eye gave him medically enhanced capabilities far beyond any natural human level, Livio regularly pushed his body further, even to the point of unconsciousness. In order to show "perfect devotion" to his superiors and execute his orders with flawlessness and efficiency, he forsook any sense of morality he had already developed and suppressed his own emotions for years.
- Adaptability: While he has shown to be open to positive change, such as opening up in his childhood, this was majorly drilled into him by the Eye. Livio is able to constantly refine his tactics as situations unfold, especially in combat. In his own words, he studies enemies' skills, moves, habits, and even the way they breathe, to adapt to their fighting styles and defeat them.
- Compassion: Each time Livio has chosen to improve himself, it was for the sake of someone else. As a child, he saved a fellow orphan from a deadly fall and said afterward that he was able to feel love now that he loved others. He recognized the necessity to abandon the Eye of Michael in order to be a kinder person. And in multiple instances afterward, he uses his strengths to defend others even if it means he is put in harm's way.
✽ Top three weaknesses?
- Emotional immaturity: Having spent his adult life suppressing all his feelings, Livio is now unpracticed in regulating them, leading to exaggerated reactions and exceptionally demonstrative displays of emotion. He has a reputation among those he grew up with as "Crybaby Livio" for a reason.
- Lack of social intelligence: Because of his upbringing (or lack thereof) he isn't terribly aware of what's socially appropriate – for instance, he removes bloody projectiles embedded in himself in front of a group of children, and he is surprised when a foe doesn't honor his request to pause a fight so that he can retrieve his hat.
- Self-doubt: Livio is prone to getting trapped in his own head, figuratively and also literally. He's been shown as both a child and an adult to hyperfocus on his own negative feelings, such as moping for days on end when he was taken in by the orphanage, allowing himself to waste away and be beaten up on the streets, and refusing to eat without significant prompting after he caused the death of a friend.
✽ What was their last lie?
“I'm okay now. I can make it on my own.” In order to keep him from killing Wolfwood, Livio forced Razlo back into his subconscious with these words. Apparently he didn't get the memo that one does not simply will their alter out of existence, or maybe he is actively lying to himself to ease his own conscience. (Not maybe. He does later outright admit that he knew he was still reliant on Razlo's abilities.)
Inventory:
✽ (x1) Double Fang (double-barreled machine gun capable of firing forward and backward simultaneously)
✽ (x2) half of a coin (not matching; both halves are from different coins)
Abilities:
✽ Enhanced strength, movement, and durability: Genetic modifications granted Livio superhuman strength. His body is naturally hardier than normal to the point that Vash, himself stronger than a human, hurt his hand by slugging Livio in the gut. His strength is so great that his body is able to deftly wield multiple weapons totaling around 900 pounds at once, and able to jump farther/higher than should be physically possible.
✽ Instant healing: Livio's healing ability surpasses other characters' of the same background; he does not need to ingest healing serum in order to recover completely in a matter of seconds/minutes from nonfatal wounds, though he can also survive otherwise fatal wounds with a dose of the serum.
✽ Advanced aging: Not a power exactly, but as a result of all the above, Livio ages at a much faster rate than normal; presently, he appears around five to ten years older than he really is. For comparison, another character with these modifications appeared very elderly despite being middle-aged. Not sure how this will translate but it's a big deal in canon!
✽ Cybernetic arm: Previously he had a third, cybernetic arm installed between his shoulder blades. It was destroyed by his canon point, but his alter might want that back at some point...
